Gov & Sen: Strickland (D) Up by 16, Brown (D) by 6 in USA Today/Gallup Poll

Gubernatorial candidate Rep. Ted Strickland (D-Lisbon) leads Secretary of State Ken Blackwell (R-Cincinnati) by 16 points among likely voters in a new USA Today/Gallup poll. Among African-American voters, Strickland has about a 20 point lead (the article says 6 out of 10).

In the Senate race, Rep. Sherrod Brown (D-Avon) leads Sen. Mike DeWine (R-Cedarville) by 6 points among likely voters, but only by 2 points among registered voters. (It's all about turnout, baby. Right now the Republican base isn't as motivated to vote as the Democratic base.)

UPDATE: The print edition has more detail on the poll. Specific numbers in the Senate race are:

46% Brown (D)
40% DeWine (R)
14% Undecided

The poll was taken August 23-27 of 584 likely voters in Ohio and has a margin of error of 5 points.
