Cong. OH-18: Blogger Meets Space (D) at Chandra Fundraiser

One of the really cool things about political blogging is the occasional opportunity to meet people you read and write about, and whom you truly admire. Last night I got a chance to chat briefly with Ohio 18th Congressional District candidate and Law Director Zack Space (D-Dover) (and pose for a picture). Space waged a determined, labor-intensive, and ultimately successful primary campaign, defying the conventional wisdom which assigned Mayor Joe Sulzer (D-Chillicothe) the upper hand in that race. In his general election campaign Space has hammered away at the foibles and follies of scandal-tainted incumbent Rep. Bob Ney (R-Heath) with unflagging energy and creativity. Given the strange demographics of his gerrymandered district, Space is tasked with raising his name recognition in far-flung communities across east-central Ohio.

Space was in my area for a fund-raiser hosted by former Attorney General candidate Subodh Chandra (D-Cleveland Heights) and his wife Meena Chandra, at which James Carville was a featured guest. It was a no-press event, so I will refrain from writing anything more about it here. However, I want to say that the Chandras are great people and to be commended for their support for Space, and also I'll mention that it was very fun to see my blogging comrades Eric Vessels of Plunderbund and Russell Hughlock of Buckeye State Blog at the event. Nice to have you up to our corner of the state once again!

Glad you guys got to go. I'd hoped to but time ran out before we had to leave town. Glad to hear a bit about it. Thanks, Jeff.
