Ohio House 46th: Dansack (D) Endorsed by AFL-CIO
46th Ohio House District candidate Mark Dansack (D-Monclova Township), pictured at right with gubernatorial candidate Rep. Ted Strickland (D-Lisbon) and ODP Chairman Rep. Chris Redfern (D-Catawba Island), wrote me an email to say that he has received the endorsement of the Ohio AFL-CIO.
"As a former member of the AFL-CIO for 18 years, I am honored to accept this endorsement reflective of the many hard working Ohioans the union represents," Dansack wrote.
The candidate will be in Maumee for the Maumee Summer Fair the weekend of August 18-20, and will participate in the Parade on August 19.
Commenting on what he hopes is a sign of things to come, Dansack wrote:
I spoke with one gentleman who told me that for the first time in 26 years, his wife is fed up with the Republicans in Columbus and is strongly considering voting Democratic in the fall. More and more people are vocalizing their disgust with the abuses of power we've seen in Ohio and many more were recently turned off by the dirty tricks employed by a top operative in the Ohio Republican Party trying to smear Ted Strickland. Let's send them a message that we will not accept this type of sleaze in Ohio which only adds to the failures and ethically challenged behavior we've seen in the past several years.Hear, hear.

Thanks for giving Mark a mention. His story is truly what citizen involvement is all about. He generated enough support through a write in primary campaign so that the people of Ohio HD 46 would have an opponenet to the Republican incumbent. HD 46 is the epicenter of the "Coingate/Tom Noe" scandal. Noe lived in the district and operated his business in the District. He & his Wife recruited the incumbent legislator and contributed to him handsomely (directly and indirectly). If Democrats and concerned citizens of Ohio really want to send a message to the power brokers in Columbus, they can do that by supporting Mark and sending him to Columbus. Mark has worked really hard and needs your support.
MEET LIKELY PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE TOM VILSACK. On Monday, Iowa Governor Tom Vilsack (and likely 2008 candidate for President) will be in Solon to hold a town hall meeting about U.S. foreign policy. Vilsack will be discussing his recent meeting with Israeli leaders, and his visits this year to Iraq, China and Afghanistan.
Vilsack will give a presentation and take questions from the audience.
The Vilsack Town Hall Meeting will take place on Monday, August 7th at 2:30 PM at the Solon Community Center (35000 Portz Parkway in Solon). The event is free and open to the general public.

I met this gentleman last weekend and am impressed by his sincerity and common sense approach.
We certainly need more legislators who are willing to represent the ordinary working men and women in Ohio who have been left behind.
Good luck in the fall campaign!!
