AUDIO - 2006 Ohio Democratic Party State Convention

Here are audio recordings of some speakers for whom I did not get video at the 2006 Ohio Democratic Party State Convention last Saturday at Tri-C West in Parma, Ohio.

ODP Chair Rep. Chris Redfern (D-Catawba Island) opened the program and set an upbeat tone with this ringing welcome, in which he emphasized the Democratic 88-county strategy:

Senate Minority Leader C.J. Prentiss (D-Cleveland Heights) revved up the crowd and introduced Rep. Ted Strickland (D-Lisbon). Her best line, addressed to African-American Democrats, was "Ken Blackwell -- our color, not our kind":

Gubernatorial candidate Rep. Ted Strickland (D-Lisbon) was positively on fire. No direct reference to his opponent. Good story at the end about meeting an impoverished little girl in his district who was collecting money to run for class queen:

Rep. Tim Ryan (D-Niles)
is an outstanding young political superstar and he did not disappoint:

In this last clip, the dynamic Mayor Mark Mallory (D-Cincinnati) and irrepressible Rep. Stephanie Tubbs Jones (D-Cleveland) introduce the event's keynote speaker, Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Chairperson Rep. Rahm Emmanuel (D-IL). All three were great, although Emmanuel sounded like he was beginning to lose his voice:
