Cong OH-14: VIDEO - Katz (D) Calls for Reform of Broken Health Care System

Law professor and 14th Congressional District candidate Lew Katz (D-Pepper Pike) spoke at the joint press conference yesterday in Columbus, where Ohio Congressional candidates announced their unified health care reform agenda.

Before the event started I asked Katz about the significance of the press conference. He said, "This event shows the unity and determination of the Democratic Congressional candidates to address the one issue that the American peole are demanding that the government solve -- that's achieving affordable health care. The high cost of health care is killing American families."

During his talk, Katz spoke movingly of a man he had met in Mentor, Ohio just the day before who was told by three different doctors that he needed stem cell transplant therapy, but three times his insurance company denied coverage for it. Only after fighting with the insurance company for a year did he get access to the health care he needed.
