Cong OH-14: Katz (D) Calls Out LaTourette (R) on Predatorgate and Corruption

Here is the open letter to Rep. Steve LaTourette (R-Painesville) that challenger Lew Katz (D-Chesterland) published on Page A6 of today's Akron Beacon Journal:
Dear Friends,

Like so many other Northeast Ohioans, I am thoroughly disgusted and frustrated by the activities and behavior of the Republican Congress. This Congress has been characterized by corruption, from the criminal corruption charges against Bob Ney and Tom Delay to the most recent cover up of the inappropriate behavior with minors of recently resigned Congressman Mark Foley. Representative Steve LaTourette with the Republican leadership, including House Speaker Dennis Hastert and Majority Leader John Boehner, must be held accountable for allowing this behavior to take place.

This Republican Congress has dishonored the great and noble work of so many public servants that came before them, such as former Senator John Glenn and former Congressman Louis Stokes. By turning a blind eye to Foley’s behavior, the Republican leadership in Congress turned their backs on the American people, those same people they were sent to Washington to represent.

Americans cannot afford to allow such lapses in judgment and morality to pass without consequences to those responsible. Contact Steve LaTourette’s campaign office today at (440) 231-0028 to demand that he hold his party’s leadership accountable for their failure to act when they learned of Congressman Foley’s inappropriate sexual advances towards congressional staff.

Remember, if you do not like his answer or the direction of the country, change in Washington begins right here in Northeast Ohio.

Sincerely,

Lewis R. Katz
