Gov: Strickland (D) Names Campaign Manager as Chief of Staff

In a not very surprising move, governor-elect Ted Strickland (D-Lisbon) has picked his campaign manager and former congressional chief of staff John Haseley as his gubernatorial chief of staff. Haseley will also direct his transition effort, working with transition chairman Mike Coleman.

Haseley is 43 and lives in Athens with his wife Amanda and their two children. He has a political science degree from Ohio University and a law degree from George Washington University. He worked in the Washington office of former Ohio Governor Richard Celeste before law school. Since law school he worked as a legislative aide to Sen. John Glenn (D-OH) and clerked for U.S. Court of Appeals Judge Guy Cole in Columbus before becoming district director in Strickland’s Portsmouth office in 1996. He became Strickland’s chief of staff in 1998.

"John’s intellect, strength of character and love for Ohio makes him uniquely qualified to help me carry out the responsibilities of the governor’s office,” Strickland said.
