Cong. 2nd: Saturday Rally for Wulsin (D) to Feature John Edwards

Former senator and vice presidential candidate John Edwards (D-NC) will speak at a rally for 2nd District Congressional candidate Dr. Victoria Wulsin on Saturday, July 8, from 2:15 to 3:30 at Burnet Woods Park, on Clifton Avenue between MLK Dr. and Ludlow, just north of the University of Cincinnati. Wulsin staff and volunteers will be canvassing the neighborhood of Northside for Minimun Wage Petitions after Edwards speaks. Details and a map are available here.

I hope somebody blogs this event. Edwards spent a great deal of time in southern Ohio during the 2004 presidential campaign. Did he appeal to southern Ohioans with his populist "Two Americas" theme, southern charm, and self-effacing style? My recollection is that his appearances didn't get much big-media coverage, and there were mixed reviews about how effective he was. I have always liked him and wish I could go to this rally. Does this visit to Ohio say anything about his presidential aspirations?

I have met John Edwards three times. He is a marvelous speaker, and he was very well-received in Hamilton County. He has been traveling, speaking, teaching for the last couple of years. I think it's a real coup that he's going to appear for Vic. Paul Hackett is hosting a fundraiser for Ted Strickland with John Edwards in attendance.

I heard a language expert on NPR today talking about the right's use of language and how they are better than the left. He gave an example of two on the left who are masters of language and the story: Bill Clinton and John Edwards. I hope he runs again.
