Gov & Sen: Strickland (D) Up by 12, Brown (D) by 4 in Ohio Poll

The University of Cincinnati Ohio Poll released today shows gubernatorial candidate Rep. Ted Strickland (D-Lisbon) leading rival Secretary of State Ken Blackwell (R-Cincinnati) by 12 points, and Senate candidate Rep. Sherrod Brown (D-Avon) leading Sen. Mike DeWine (R-Cedarville) by four:

50% Ted Strickland (D)
38% Ken Blackwell (R)
3% Bill Peirce (I)
2% Bob Fitrakis (I)
1% Other
7% Undecided

51% Sherrod Brown (D)
47% Mike DeWine (R)
<1% Other
2% Undecided

The pollsters interviewed 671 likely voters between September 11 and 17. The margin of error is 3.8%.

ADDENDUM: The Quinnipiac University poll on the Senate contest is also out today, and it shows a much tighter race:

45% Brown (D)
44% DeWine (R)

Among independents, DeWine leads 43%-40% with 17% undecided. The poll was taken September 11-17 of 876 likely voters and has a margin of error of 3.3 points.

What's interesting about this poll is that it is consistently, year after year, the most GOP leaning poll in the state.

Soooo, if they show Ted and Sherrod ahead.....
