Cong OH-2: RNCC Hits Wulsin (D) With Illegal Immigration Attack Mailer

Here's proof that the Republican National Congressional Campaign is worried about Dr. Vic Wulsin (D-Indian Hill) taking out Rep. "Mean Jean" Schmidt (R-Loveland) in the 2nd Ohio Congressional District: they're mailing out a flyer that bludgeons Wulsin on their new hot-button issue, illegal immigration. (Download the flyer in .pdf format here.)

Never mind that George W. Bush and Schmidt herself support a path to citizenship. The flyer proclaims that "Victoria Wulsin has a big surprise waiting for illegal aliens after they cross the border ... AMNESTY and your tax dollars." On the other side, it blares that "Victoria Wulsin is ready to give amnesty to those who enter our country illegally, and let them get nearly $50 BILLION in taxpayer money," itemized in smaller type as healthcare, social security and food stamp benefits. Then there's "Victoria Wulsin supports a '... road to eventual citizenship.' THAT'S AMNESTY. And amnesty is wrong for all of us."

The RNCC has done polling in this district that it hasn't publicized. I'm not sure that this is a particularly effective attack on Wulsin, but it shows that they're nervous, and that confirms that we've got a real race on our hands. Let's all give Wulsin some more support!

Well, I already gave to Wulsin this week, one of my handful of donations. I heard her speak and got to talk to her one-on-one and she's incredibly impressive. I think she'd be an asset to Congress, which sorely needs some assets right how — some intelligent, thoughtful people with real ideas about how to make life better for regular old people. I urge everyone who's in a safe congressional district like mine (11) to help out Dr. Vic and eliminate one more embarassment from Ohio. Speaking of embarassment, why is the Republican party running Zack Space attack ads on Cleveland TV? Are they totally confused? Did they lose their Ohio districts map?

You know, that's a really interesting question. Back in August I attended an event at Cleveland State University with Zack Space and Rahm Emmanuel. Space told a student that the nearest part of his district (around Dover and New Philadelphia, I guess) is within the Cleveland media market. I found that hard to believe, but perhaps it's correct!
