Cong. OH-2nd: Schmidt (R) With Huge Lead Over McEwen (R) in Poll

Stunning poll results from Survey USA, as reported on the excellent OH-2 Blog:

55 % - Incumbent Rep. Jean Schmidt (R-Loveland)

30 % - Former Rep. Bob McEwen (R-Hillsboro)

11 % - Other [the other Republican candidates are Deborah Kraus (R-Union Township) and James E. Constable (R-Fayetteville)]

4 % - Undecided

The above poll was commissioned for WCPO. I see on Schmidt's website that her own polling shows similar results: Schmidt 54%, McEwen 34%, Undecided 12% (based on a head-to-head matchup).

Personally I am amazed that Schmidt's various troubles (repeatedly caught making mistatements on her campaign site about endorsements and details of her resume, backing out of a debate with McEwen, continuing ridicule of her assault on Rep. Jack Murtha (D-PA) on the floor of Congress) haven't put more wind into McEwen's sails.

Look at the new poll for a different point of view.
