Cong OH-2: Wulsin (D) Within Margin of Error Against Schmidt (R)

A SurveyUSA poll released today shows Dr. Victoria Wulsin (D-Indian Hill) and Rep. Jean Schmidt (R-Loveland) in a statistical tie in the 2nd Ohio Congressional District:

45% Schmidt (R)
42% Wulsin (D)
12% Undecided

The poll has a margin of error of 4.5%. Wulsin leads Schmidt among independents 48% to 38%. Wulsin leads among Democrats 86% to 6%, while Schmidt leads among Republicans by only 71% to 13%. Wulsin is winning among women 43% to 41%, while Schmidt leads among men 49% to 42%.

A statement from the Wulsin campaign: "This confirms what we've known all along: folks in Southern Ohio are ready for new, honest leadership," said Mary Huttlinger, Wulsin's campaign manager, "Vic has dedicated her career to keeping Ohio healthy and safe and now she's ready to put people before politics and be a better representative for them in Congress."

The Wulsin campaign previously released internal polling that showed this race tied, which was generally taken with the proverbial grain of salt. This result from a independent poll erases any doubt -- this race is in fact very, very tight.
