Cong OH-2: Wulsin (D) Endorsed by Cincy Post

The Cincinnati Post has endorsed Vic Wulsin (D-Indian Hill), giving her a second important newspaper nod to go with the Dayton Daily News.

The Post editors compare incumbent "Mean Jean" Schmidt (R-Loveland) to the "cultured, serious-minded Republicans" who have represented the 2nd Congressional District in the past and find her wanting. Schmidt's first term has been "rocky," marked by her "unfortunate remarks on the House floor calling into question the patriotism of a Democratic colleague, Rep. John Murtha, a highly decorated veteran who commands respect on both sides of the aisle."

As to Wulsin, the Post editors praise her academic achievement (an undergraduate and two graduate degrees from Harvard and a medical degree from Case Western), her work for public health agencies (the Centers for Disease Control, the U.S. Agency for International Development, and the Cincinnati Health Department), and her public service work on HIV/AIDS at home and abroad. They conclude that she "brings to the race a welcome level of expertise in one of the most vital issues facing America today: health care. And she is on target in her approach to energy policy, economic development and higher education."
