Cong OH-4: Siferd (D) Only 8 Points Behind Jordan (R)

In yet another sign of the approaching Democratic tsunami, the Ohio Democratic Party reports in a new fundraising message that recent independent polling shows under-funded challenger Rick Siferd (D-Lima) only 8 points behind ultra-conservative State Sen. Jim Jordan (R-Urbana) in the exceedingly red 4th Congressional District, with independents favoring Siferd by more than 2 to 1. This is absolutely stunning news from a district that by all accounts appeared to be one of the very safest for the Republican party.

Siferd, a political newcomer, is a Vietnam War veteran, small business owner and attorney. He has worked as City Law Director of Lima and has represented working people and small business owners against corporations. Siferd accepts no contributions from corporate interests. He has campaigned on a theme of honesty and integrity. General Wesley Clark recently endorsed Rick:
"As a Vietnam veteran, Rick understands the realities of war and can be counted on to support our troops, their families and veterans who depend on the VA for their healthcare....In voting for Rick Siferd, Ohioans will help return honesty and accountability to our political system while reducing the influence of special interests."
Jim Jordan is a life-long politician who has accepted hundreds of thousands of dollars from big oil, drug, and insurance companies, including a $100,000 independent expenditure contribution from the Club for Growth. He wants to give tax cuts to the rich and do away with the minimum wage. He supports abortion even in the case of a minor who was raped. The conservative Findlay Courier called him "as right wing of a candidate as we have seen in some time."
